Can I FTP into my account if I use FrontPage?
We do permit the use of FTP. However, the Microsoft
FrontPage documentation discourages using FTP
and FrontPage publishing on the same site. Using
FTP, a novice webmaster may inadvertently delete,
overwrite or otherwise damage the FrontPage
Server Extension files and directories within
their site.
FTP
can be particularly useful for uploading larger
files (such as large databases, high resolution
graphic images, etc.). You can also use FTP
to upload web pages created with FrontPage or
any other web creation software. However, any
web pages that include FrontPage generated components
such as feedback forms, hit counters, shared
borders, etc. need to be published to the server
using FrontPage in order to work properly.
For
these reasons, we recommend that only experienced
users try to use both FTP and FrontPage for
publishing.
